Natalie stood up last night. Not "held onto my hands and was hoisted", or even "pulled herself up on a piece of furniture", but "rolled back from all fours into a frog-squat and then just stood up unassisted".

Go, small girl! Fulfill your dreams of running around!

I'm torn between terror and excitement. I figure I can't STOP her from standing and walking, though, so I might as well be happy about it. :)

Eek! I mean, I didn't ever think you'd have that long before she started toddling, but... Nothing is safe from curious baby hands now! :)

Don't worry, it doesn't yet seem repeatable. :)

Heh, that makes me wonder what went on in her brain when she did it and whether she's trying to reverse engineer this process to do it again. :)

It's only a matter of time! Although, really, I suppose it always has been :)

She makes up for it by being insanely cuddly. Also, we just learned that [livejournal.com profile] dilletante started walking at 9 months. Oh my, oh my.

In fact, she crawled across the mat to play with the shiny tails last week. I did not show her how to pull herself up using them :)

Holy cow! Go, Natalie! (err, or, Stay, Natalie! Whichever you prefer at this stage....) Cuddly ones are awesome, aren't they?

Yipes! Now you get to experience the joys of an ambulatory 9-month-old. =:-O

Childproof early and often!

I was really rooting for the "early talker late walker" kind of baby, but I guess I'm going to be thwarted. :)

A month, you think? Okay. I will enjoy this non-ambulatory month while I still can.

Well, note that I weasn't ruling out the possibility of an ambulatory 8-month-old. :-)

I fully expect that she will be walking by the time I get back from Pennsic. She's been eager to walk for over a month now. She's a total dynamo. Seriously, the kid's a marvel. I'm not an expert. But of the kids her age I've looked after before? Her motor skill and mobility development is more then impressive. I've been impressed with her from the get-go and I continue to be impressed.

There must be a photo opportunity of her standing and looking pensively at the bike.  MUST.  I've seen into the future, you know!

She is INCREDIBLE! I'm amazed she's doing that so quickly.
