After many years of nerdy service, devclue.com breathed its last this week. RIP /dev/clue, and all you were and are no longer. If that's the email address you have for me, it is dead. Email me at photoclave.com instead.

Writing out a thorough shopping list before going to the store and then crossing the items off as you pick them up is way easier than keeping it all in your head.

I have buttons! I do not like having them pressed. Things that will help you not press my buttons:

* Knowledge and intelligence are different things. Don't assume they're the same. It makes you look like an asshole.
* I'm smart. You probably think you know this about me, but most of you are wrong.
* If we're having a conversation, feel free to assume I know what you're talking about. If I don't, I'll ask, and then you can excitedly explain it to me. It'll be fun! I promise.
* I seriously, seriously will want to punch you in the face if you come off as condescending. Seriously.
* If you want to offer me basic advice about something, ask first, THEN offer. I might want it! I probably don't, though.

People, I love you. You are fantastic. Please, keep having ideas and thought processes and fascinations and hobbies that are different from my own, so I can keep hearing about them all and learning from you. Just, for the love of all that's good in the world, give me a bit of credit sometimes. Christ almighty, it's like I'm NINE.

It has come to my attention that not all of my email is actually getting forwarded to the mailbox that I read. Until I sort this out, please use my lj email address, and if you expected a response from me to something you sent and haven't gotten it, well, I'm certainly bad about responding but there's a chance I haven't even GOTTEN your message so you should feel free to resend it.

Also, thank you all for the fun and awesome things you sent yesterday! I haven't even finished going through them yet since they're all so delightful.

I feel somehow morally obligated to tell you all that I was completely goggle-eyed mystified by seeing TV in action this weekend. See, we haven't had TV reception since moving to Boston (except the stuff that comes over the airwaves, which isn't much in our hilly neighborhood). So, the closest we've come to television has been DVD- and Bittorrent-fueled orgies of TV-watching, and seeing some stuff recorded on [livejournal.com profile] zogathon's TiVo. But... wow! I had no idea that you could just scroll through menus of live TV and click on programs!

Some days, I think everyone lives in the future but me.

So, my phone seems stuck in crappy mode, a lot of the time, these days. In crappy mode, I seem to receive most text messages (as far as I know!), but not be able to send any, and I often can't answer calls. [livejournal.com profile] mzrowan today told me that she had received a cryptic message from me the day before -- one that I had sent to [livejournal.com profile] dilletante about two weeks ago.

Anyway, if you think I'm ducking your calls or text messages, or if you think I'm wooing you inappropriately via SMS, well, send me an email to make sure.

Don't look at the Wikipedia page edit history for politicians currently up for reelection, this close to election day.

In case you hadn't heard:

[livejournal.com profile] ceelove and [livejournal.com profile] starphire have been joined by baby Sylvana. As [livejournal.com profile] dilletante posted, she is a healthy 9lb 3oz girl, born at 5:02 pm by c-section (she was transverse). They'll be in the hospital until Wednesday, but otherwise all is well!

[livejournal.com profile] ceelove is still in labor. No big medical complications or anything, it's just taking a while...

If you haven't cleaned out your random-electronic-bits cabinet in a few years, be prepared for an avalanche of chargers patiently waiting to be called on to service devices that have long since broken or shuffled off into electonics purgatory.

I groomed them and put them in a little heap so they could keep each other company, but they still look cold and sad.

The machine where I get my email (and where intrepidheroines.net lives) seems to be down. Since the sysadmin is at Burning Man, I don't really expect it to be back up until next week. If you have anything to email me, use my livejournal.com address, which I've temporarily pointed to a gmail account.

Thanks!

PS: Still on hiatus. It's going well!

Rabbit rabbit rabbit.

In other news, I decided much earlier this evening that I should redirect livejournal.com on my laptop to point to localhost. This was a brilliant plan, as it turns out. You have been spared many content-free posts.

I apologize for any posts that you may not have been spared.

PSA: bike journal stuff at [livejournal.com profile] velo_city. I'll only be putting grand overview-type stuff in here, and I'll try to keep the minutiae over there.

The server through which my lifeline of email comes is currently in the midst of a planned outage (thank you sysbabe! you r00l!). I knew it was going to happen, but I still feel so ... adrift! It's made all the worse since I was expecting a tantalizing URL. Phooey for poor planning.

Had a nice dinner with a keen babe. Grinning!
