home again home again jiggety jig
May. 28th, 2002 08:20 amWow, that was the most pleasantly active weekend I've had in a long time. It was part of the annual migration of David's college friends -- they all return to Virginia Beach every May for a week of silly gaming. I finally saw Freedom Force, which was surprisingly cute. How can you not love a "fully-destructible world"? Also played Puerto Rico, which was one of those strategy games with lots of little fiddly bits where it takes you half the game to really appreciate the scope of the thing. So, I think I liked it, but I'd like to play again to make sure.
Anyway, for a weekend practically designed around sitting on one's butt, it made me surprisingly sore. We managed to go out skating for a couple of hours on two different occasions, and also to get in a lot of DDR. Yay DDR! This was the first I've played in a couple of months because of my dang achilles tendon problems, and it didn't bother me at all. I also handily cleared some five-foot trick songs, which was nice to do after the big hiatus. I'll set it up again tonight at home and see which ones they were. I think I've mostly figured out the weird jumps and internalized the patterns for them, so I don't have to stand around for a second when I see up-and-left or whatever. (Walking home from the T yesterday actually did cause a little pain, which sucks.)
