This week, David and I were supposed to be on a tandem bike, cycling from London to Edinburgh and then spending a week in Scotland. The huge cloud of volcanic ash stopped us from leaving, however, so on a last minute whim we flew to Belize. I just bought bathing suits and a big floppy hat and today we are going to explore some caves. Tomorrow maybe we will take scuba lessons near the yoga retreat
mzrowan recommended. I really do love traveling with no idea what I'm doing or where I will be tomorrow -- there is no pressure to do everything since doing anything at all is a triumph.

Date: 2010-04-19 04:10 pm (UTC)This is generally how I feel when travelling for work -- doing anything at all in the time I have outside of teaching is a triumph. It is remarkably freeing, and I enjoy the things I get to do *more* because I'm not fretting about what I'm missing.
Yay yoga retreat!

Date: 2010-04-20 12:15 am (UTC)I actually love last-minute, no planning in advance vacations. You can't do some things that have to be pre-scheduled, but you have the flexibility to do all sorts of other things that you couldn't have done if you had to pre-book everything, and I've had lots of great experiences that way (you can find out more about what to do and where to stay while you're there than you do while you're planning from far away).
KIck-ash!
