functional strength is my friend

Home ownership is funny. I feel very protective of the bits of the house that I've fiddled with. It's satisfying to think, yeah, I scraped and sanded that or painted there or stooped over those to apply polyurethane. I also like not being as sore as I thought I'd be after all of this. I'm sure some of it is just the nesting instinct -- new place! let's make it good! we can do anything! the world is our tomato! -- but I think that at least part of it is knowing that at the end of it, I'll own something slightly better and cooler. I never realized that ownership actually meant something to me. Funny how little you know yourself, even when you think otherwise...

We're going to be moving this coming Saturday. The move is just across the street, so the bucket-brigade shouldn't go on for too long, but I'm still hoping to enlist the aid of anyone willing to help in The Great Schlep. Beer and food provided, and I promise that you won't have to carry my underwear or anything.
