and and and
Jun. 23rd, 2002 06:49 pmAnd there are parks! lovely huge expanses of wooded parkland, right in the city! I skated through two great big ones today, and caught the second half of a good flashy juggling act. I was doubly charmed, since the juggler was a blonde woman in a zebra-striped dress. Then, I caught a mongolian band playing in a tunnel. Even the buskers here kick butt.
Soon, I promise, this journal will become more than just me enthusing about how great this city is. Any day now...

Jun. 23rd, 2002 07:21 pmThe first round of classes last week went well. I was worried that the lab would be completely worthless, especially since I didn't end up finishing it until about an hour before the class started, and since there were a bunch of technical problems. But it worked! And people did the right things wrong and drew the correct conclusions, and everything! It felt almost like magic. And, since I was unbelievably stressed that everything would go horribly wrong, having things go right was an extra-pleasant surprise.
(Extra-pleasant meaning super-duper nice, not meaning "outside the boundaries of pleasantness".)
One more round of classes next week, and then some more normal work for a while. Whee!
