In other news, work on the house progresses. The orange room is no longer that hideously live, pulsing orange color it was when we bought the place -- however, I hope to call it "the orange room" forever anyway, just to be cryptic.

there's a room like that at my folks' house. when we moved in it was mustard yellow. it took the longest time to stop referring to it as "the yellow study." even though it had had wood paneling over the yellow for decades.

Purple

When I moved in with B (in Chicago), she had painted the middle bedroom a livid, mind-searing shade of purple. It had the computer in it, and became known as simply "The Purple Room".

Last year, in Laurel, the TV-computer room was also known as "The Purple Room", despite not actually having any purple in it.

Now, in Bowie, we're planning on painting the TV room a nice purple shade, just to keep the tradition...
