You need a "depends" button. Because long hair on some men is incredibly hot, and on some men incredibly skeevy.

Depends.

Agreed! But I find that a lot of people completely adore/hate it all out of proportion to its objective measurable(-by-me) hotness.

While this is true, it is still also true that I think almost every guy is hotter with long hair than they would be with short hair. It's just that the best some men can do is still "incredibly skeevy".

Snow is totally context-dependent. Hate the black leftovers on the side of the road, and the bad drivers in snowy traffic. Love the white fluffy stuff, esp. when I don't have grown-up responsibilities to fulfill.

This, esp. for the snow question, though I would have liked some qualifiers for a few of the others (e.g. bagpipes first thing in the morning Notgood, long hair on balding men Notgood, etc.)

One of the bagpipe majors at my alma mater decided it would be a good idea to practice at 10pm on Halloween while a thick fog rolled across campus.

I've never walked so fast in my life.

I used to love the Giving Tree and now I find it really creepy but still have a tiny soft spot for it. 50 ways is a fine, catchy tune, as long as I don't think bout it too hard. Anchovies are good mixed in to the right foods in proportional amounts, but too much on their own.

I love snow in its traditional, mid-atlantic form, by which I mean, it's pretty and it shuts everything down and you can just enjoy the snow and a day (or some days) at home.

Here, I do love it, too, but it gets exhausting. People always tell me how much time we would all lose if we stayed home every time it snowed in the winter, here. None of the arguments seem to be about it being any safer. (I certainly spent the last few winters living in terror of falling down in between actually slipping and falling.

And, when you look at the fact that our economy is in the toilet, in spite of us working our asses off and the fact that, Germany, say is the third largest economy in the world in spite of working a *lot* less per captia? Well, it's hard to have sympathy for the whole "but we wouldn't get enough *done*" argument.

In any case, I am anticipating enjoying snow more this winter than I did last winter, now that I live in a place that I won't so much mind being snowed into.

Apparently I'm entirely cold-hearted, loving nothing but the winter. hmmm... not how I usually think of myself. ;-)

I refused to answer for snow, because, like some people, I love to see it arrive, and then it wears out its welcome kind of fast.

My response to the bagpipe question is coloured by the fact that my first long-term relationship was with a piper. It did not end well and I've born a grudge towards bagpipes ever since.

I love snow. I do not like shoveling snow. I especially do not like shoveling snow and then watching as the snowplow comes by and deposits a two-foot wall at the end of the driveway, plus resnows the just-shoveled (and required-to-be-shoveled-by-law) sidewalk.

I've somehow missed The Giving Tree. Do I want to read it?

From: [identity profile] signsoflife.livejournal.com
If you read The Giving Tree, you are likely to develop a strong and emotional opinion of it, which WILL be in conflict with other people's strong and emotional opinions, and you will spend the rest of your life either engaging in the emotional conflict or spending energy in avoiding the emotional conflict when the topic comes up, and it's just not *that* good.

But that's my opinion.

On the other hand, "Uncle Shelby's ABZ book" is unalloyed awesome (and so very Not. For. Children.)

I find much of Shel Silverstein's work a bit creepy (in a not-funny way), there are parts of The Giving Tree that make me sort of look over my shoulder. I don't hate the book, I just look for something else.

As for bagpipes, with a last name like Cunningham...
