I had an excellent weekend with [livejournal.com profile] veek. It was one of those times where the days contain far more than days were meant to hold, so they bulged at the seams with neat shit. For the record, she is an excellent wandering companion. The weather managed to hold off all weekend, giving us those perfect 65-degree days with no rain and only the best kinds of breezes. The skies did decide to get all rainy and crappy this morning, though, just in time to annoy her on the way back to the airport. Bleah.

So! She rented a bike and we spent some time tooling around the city and its environs on bikes. I got a new pump! And man, does it feel good to get on my very own bike saddle again and ride.

Lucky you

It's been raining here since friday and it's abysmally cold. I couldn't go jogging in all that time. Poo. How about I send you a cloud or two, and you send me some balmy temperatures?

Well, if I look out the window, it looks like you've already sent me a few clouds.

Abysmally cold, though, really? That's disappointing. I'd say come visit, but you already are, right?

One of my coworkers asked if I was going to cycle to Germany for a weekend, just because I could. And! It hadn't occurred to me that I could! Looks like I won't have the time, but the idea amuses me.

Clouds: we really have a surplus in those buggers now. Let me send you a few more.
Cold: Pretty much. Today seems to be better than the weekend, where I actually considered turning up the radiators again. But it's still "wear a jacket if you don't want to freeze"-weather.
Visit: I hope so. How long were you staying there? 17th? We've encountered some financial realities along the way, so Operation ZahlAmnesty has been postponed for a bit (not too long, I hope).

Ach, I was worried about that. I'm leaving on the 14th, but I'll be in Paris on the 12th-13th, so effectively my last visiting day is the 11th. :|

Yeah. It sucks. :(
I was looking forward to meeting you. Well, maybe something will happen to make it possible. Either you get transferred to .nl for the next 2 or 3 years, or I will actually manage to get into gradschool in the US.

Damn. And now I think of the international bikerace through lower saxony (http://www.niedersachsenrundfahrt.de/). It goes through clausthal (2nd day). *smirks* and yes, that part of clausthal that they mention is very well suited for mountain timings. I already get into a sweat if I walk up that hill on foot (something like 70% inclination at times - if not more (subjective, of course - I don't have gps, so I couldn't check up on it)).
Anyway, race is long gone. If I still happen to be here next year (god, I hope not), you can bunk here, if you want to participate.
