If my passport says Mary Lewis and my plane tickets say Molly, they won't let me on the plane, will they? It would appear that nobody other than payroll knows my True Name.

Yup. My parents were good southern folk. :P I grew up with "Molly", though, since we lived in the land of Wonderfully Heathen Yankees.

K always calls me "Mary Lewis" because she thinks it's funny.

The nice people were nice enough to change my nice tickets to Amsterdam. Which, I might add, I now have IN HAND! Woop!

It's a nice name though. Nicer than "Molly", if I may say so (in german 'mollig' is a polite adjective for being overweight, so I get strange connotations with the name).
And you're lucky you got a plain old Mary, and nothing screwy like Mary Jane or Mary-Lee...

Well, actually, "Lewis" isn't my last name, so I did get one of those. :)

It occurs to me that I didn't know Molly's True Name till I worked at the BSD. Guess that proves your point.
