Does anyone reading this have any experience with GNATS? I have a couple of simple questions to ask that the internet isn't answering easily, if you do.

Note to [livejournal.com profile] vimnelius: no actual gnats involved.

A little. Very rusty. Mostly from "helping people ditch it."
But a little none the less. What's up?

Well, that's precisely the experience I need, since I would like to help one of my customers help a group ditch it. :) But, at the moment, I'm busy enough that I'd rather not play with it myself much, so I can't actually set it up and get data out of it the normal way. My questions: can you export data from it? what do the export files look like? A frustratingly simple question to not have the internet answer, but perhaps yesterday was just a really really long day.

hahahahahahhahahahahhahahahahhahahhahahaha. You said "GNATS" and "export" in the same sentence. (Ok. You didn't actually use both words in one sentence. But you came really close.)

So, I can't speak to the latest release of GNATS, but I doubt many folks are actually running it.

GNATS' file format is...not meant to be parsed by a machine. It's ambiguous in a number of places.

is a tool that I wrote for RT2. It was a dirty, dirty hack. Sam Hartman cleaned it up a bit, but it's still pretty scary. Its control flow might be a starting point for you.

Ah. Well then. Thank you so much for this -- it's very wrong, but it tells me what I'm going to have to do, at least. :)

You misspelled intergnet. Hope this helps.

The first time I got off work at 8, I rode home through SWARMS OF GNATS along the causeway bikepath. Three miles of rainstorm-like GNATS.

GNATS WERE EVERYWHERE!

Gnats in the hair! Armhair too! So blech. Eyes were mostly protected by glasses, mouth/nose by hand, but still... rain-like gnats for 3 miles :*(
