Grape-soda flavored jello in a soda can!

M: [sttthhhhhhhhhhhhp]
D: Is it good?
M: It's... [sstttthhhhhhhhhhp]
[pause]
M: I can't drink this.
D: Oh no, that bad?
M: No, it's just that I can't drink this. Physically.

Did the whole top come off, corned-beef-can style, or did it just have a small opening like a can of soda? (If the latter, I wonder how you're supposed to use it.)

Oh, no, it was little-hole soda can style. To be fair, the jello was kind of gloppy, like jello that's 3/4 set but not 100% yet. I did get little globs out into my mouth. It was just too much work for the product I was getting. :)

Maybe you're supposed to warm it up first.

But... it came out of a vending machine that offered hot and cold products, and this one was cold! Besides, what's the appeal of hot jello? "Congeals in your belly, while you wait!"

Maybe it's an alien parasite.

Using you to breed.

Right now.

Sweet dreams.

This is today's most puzzling thing.
Thank you!

So....was the grape flavoring US style grape flavoring, or Japanese style grape flavoring? (I've heard there's a difference, although I haven't experienced it myself.)

A straw might have done the trick.

That's wildly amusing!

I've seen this sort of thing at the super 88 and wondered about it!

I'd say thanks for clearing it up, but, really it doesn't clear anything up or stop me wondering.

But thanks, anyway :)

Oh god. Oh god. That place.

[livejournal.com profile] chunga and I, on a very poorly planned Thanksgiving-day supply run, tried to find necessities for our barbecuted turkey there.

We found absolutely nothing appropriate. I think we had better luck in a gas station.

I mean, if we'd wanted to replace the cranberry relish with fish eyes or something, we could have been accomodated...

The thing about the Super 88 is that you can't go there with a plan, unless it's a plan that involves having an Asian friend help you get just the thing.

I like to go with plenty of time to spare and a taste for adventure.

Of course, now, I know where all my favorite things are, so I also try to get something new and mysterious each time.

Tip: pass on the pickled lemons.

I'll keep that in mind. Fortunately, the damned infernal place is about 1400 miles east of me now.

You should be safe, then.

Duh.

There's a picture of a spoon on the can. What did you think you were supposed to do with it?

Dumb gaijin.

Could be worse -- could be "grass-jelly drink". Which is undrinkable for *both* reasons, at least to my uneducated palate.

Thats perplexing. I think a wide straw might help, but they should package one with the can. And I LIKE Grass Jelly Drink. There the straw is essential, so the worm-like jellies can slither up the straw at random surprising intervals.
