Dec. 1st, 2002 07:15 pmWowww. People are neat.
I won't go into too much detail about the past few days, even though there are lots of details to be had. I spent Friday packing and lifting boxes of books, mostly, which meant that halfway through Saturday's move my arms just gave up. Poof! No more arms! Can't lift 'em above my shoulders! I honestly didn't have the energy to feel particularly bad about it. I was just in RoboMove state, so I kept *trying* to do things even though I was physically unable. That was interesting. I ate a bit of food and then felt good enough to hop about and lift minor things.
But I'm getting ahead of myself! The incredible thing was that the entire move was accomplished between noon and sundown. ALL of our stuff. So many people were there, working in shifts like frantic insects hell-bent on disassembling our life and moving it 300 feet to the left. We had
jbsegal and
tcb and Ted M. and
ectropy and
tafkar and
quinnclub and
fennel and Amelia and (of course) C, C-prime,
dilletante and myself. By the time
ectophylla and
zsquirrelboy showed up, we'd already moved everything and finished the post-move pizza. They expressed their amazement and helped us christen the tv room by lolling about and watching Real Genius and some episodes of The Young Ones.
I can't believe that I live in a community this nifty. I think I over-thanked people, though; in my box-induced manic fatigue I must have thanked everyone three or four times, minimum. If I missed you, tell me, and I will shower you with an embarrassment of gratitude at a later date.
Now: unpacking! eeek. But it is doable! It is all so very doable!
