hm.
i don't think i got to meet you the trip you took out to see cee, but i've seen pictures of you and cee and eric on the swingset. and i certainly heard all about how you were going to be visiting soon.
i want to say it was johnny d's, soon after you moved here? but i'm not getting a good "first meeting" memory.
i thought you were cute though :)

You know, I don't remember, either! You or lyonesse. I think it's because I'd heard about both of you through Cee, so when we met, it was like, "hi! nice to have a physical person to fit that personality-slot in my mind!"

I was pretty instantly impressed with how dramatically nifty you always look, though.

I was having coffee at Diesel with Cee (my first time meeting her, too) and you and David were there playing pool. We briefly said hello, and I thought to myself, "Gosh, she's cute! Too bad she'll never want to talk to me."

I remember that! I looked at you and smiled and thought, "man, I haven't seen someone so full of energy in eons." Later, hearing Cee recount the conversation, I knew I wanted to know you. :)

As I recall, I think I met you in the lobby of the theatre on campus (whose name, oddly, I'm forgetting) when I was there to see TMLMTBGB. I think you were there attached to trom, but I'm not 100% certain of that.

I was attached to trom, I think; I remember you saying "Oh, so YOU'RE Molly", which was funny because about three people had said that to me that week. It took a while for me to actually get to know you, though...

I was at quinnclub and cloeigrrl's, for some reason.  He was showing me pictures of people, including you at some kissing game.  I remember being... struck speechless, as INCREDIBLY DORKY as it sounds, by how hot you were.  In that fashion of "Wow, she's wicked attractive, and she looks way interesting!".

Course, then quinnclub felt this moral imperative to tell you what my first reaction was, and then introduced us.  "Molly, this is the girl I was telling you about, who thought you were wicked hot.  *beat*  I'll be right back!"

I remember once upon a time tafkar describing you as looking like Claudia Black (http://claudiablack.8m.com/), and thinking, "hmm! I want to meet her." Then I remember quinnclub talking about showing you photos of me, and your reaction, and thinking, "whoa! me?" So I was vastly amused when I finally met you in person and you were totally silent. *grin*

I also remember having a long conversation with you at a massage party about how strange containers of liquid really are, and being excited that you even understood what the hell I was talking about.

It was at a body-painting party a couple of years ago. I saw you walking across the living room into the kitchen and thought "OMG, she is so drop-dead gorgeous... and she's so far out of my league that I'll never get a chance to speak to her." I believe that was my only thought for several seconds before my brain turned back on again.

I have a thing for confident, short-haired, well-built women and you hit it right on.

I remember thinking YOU were drop-dead gorgeous, too, and being sort of vicariously thrilled that you seemed to hit it off with srisyadasti. *grin* It wasn't until (a very short while) later that I was also impressed with how well-roundedly brilliantly cool you were.

I really like this one.

I remember getting up one morning, and I was sitting at my computer before wandering off to my new training class. You'd just sent me art that completely knocked my socks off. And so it was the coolest thing to start talking to you.

You were in Amsterdam at the time, and my knee injury was fresh. We talked about dedication and training and a million other things. You took pictures for my Hello Project and tried to find a good absinthe bar.

And so, yeah. That's how we met and what I remember of getting to know you.

Ooo! I remember being nervous that that piece of art was dorky or something, and being thrilled with myself that you liked it.

I remember stopping in to a particular internet cafe just to IM you from Amsterdam -- I remember that you were incredibly easy to talk to and seemed to understand my motivations. Plus, you're funny as hell.

...which I don't have really clear memories of, my first real impression was at the LARP that Jamie and Jon were running: Leather Jacket Brujah and everyone asking "Is she seeing anyone?"

Well, there is that Halloween party, but we won't get into that. :) At that LARP, I remember you being as full of quivering energy as everyone described ectophylla as being. Ping! Pingpingping! HELLO! :)

I *think* it was at a surprise birthday dinner for Ellen, in town somewhere, where the guest of honor showed up about an hour and a half late?

I might have met you somewhere else before that but I'm not actually sure. You seemed a little on the quiet side, but i figured it was just that you didn't know me, and i was mostly focused on helping the kidlet to behave i a restaurant-appropriate way.

Ha ha! Yes, that was it -- I remember it, now that you mention. I'm often quiet when I don't know people. I remember it being one of my (sadly) first impressions that someone could both have a kid AND be cool. :) I've since become firmly convinced of this, don't worry.

Well I know it was at Burning Man 2002, but I can't remember what my first thoughts were upon seeing you, probably something like "Wow she's cute! I wish I weren't so incredibly shy."

I do remember being absolutely tickled when you pulled the Bohemian Pocket pin, it seemed particularly appropriate.

And I also remember thinking you looked extra sexy wearing a goatee and horns. Which I found amusing because Graeme and I had a conversation about how it takes a particular sort of girl to look sexy in a goatee.

I'm sure that's exactly the same thing I thought. Well, maybe, "Wow, she's cute! And he has such an amazing tattoo! It's a shame we're both incredibly shy. Nah, she wouldn't like me anyway." :) I also remember being amused by the Scrabble rug and impressed with your obvious spiffy artsiness.

Oddly, I do remember it! You were preoccupied with topaz_munro, since I guess he'd just moved to town. It was my first year, and we all went to the Med after UCBU. trom was explaining to me the social scene, since I was new. You know -- how everyone related to everyone else, and how you and he were a Thing, like a Big Premier Social Fixture Thing, and how he was the topaz_munro, and I was like, "who?"

I ended up watching my very first game of table chess, that night. It was Mr. Lav versus... oh, I don't remember who. I was hooked. :)

I don't remember meeting you for the first time. I often just sort of gradually become aware of somebody as my friend, soft of like how you usually don't catch the exact moment of dusk/dawn, but it happens gradually and eventally you notice "Oh, it's daytime now". I did recently tell you my earliest memory of you. You were getting your head shaved at the scavenger hunt. You had that classic Molly Happy Happy I'm So Happy Grin on your face.

I will give you instead ceelove's meeting-you story. She was in Chicago, visiting me, and the two of us were up in the R.C. coffee shop. You bounced up and chattered happily, and at one point said, "Hey, wouldn't it be cool if you were bald again? Then we could put our heads together and it would make a BUTT!"

Now that's a memorable intro line.

It was at Burning Man. I was in the large Foodlab dome at one of the meetings, and someone introduced. (Andy, I think)

And a few short days later, you were loaning me scissors to hack all my hair off with! ;)

Man, talk about a wonderful and dramatic meeting story! *grin*

The haircutting incident actually led to ANOTHER one of the more surprising things that happened to me at Burning Man this year. Just as you walked away, one of my longhaired campmates turned to me and said, "you can cut MY hair, Molly!"

"Yeah? I've never cut hair before."

"That's OK!"

Turns out he was really particular about his hair, and when his stylist had moved from Chicago to New York, he had just stopped cutting his hair entirely. He was ready to move on, though, so I gave him a floppy but short-and-respectable guy's haircut, and it turned out *really well*. I was totally pleased. It felt like getting one free point in a random skill. Thanks for opening that up for me. :)

I was really excited to learn that you were ukelele. You'd been a little mystery in my mind up until that point. No more!

I think you were standing by a car at the corner of Highland and Cherry, and Cee walked me over and introduced me to you, as we were all headed to Northampton for a concert. I don't exactly remember meeting you; I have some memories of you and David from that mini-road trip, but they're all so consonant with my current images of you both that I assume they've been contaminated by anachronistic knowledge.

I remember you walking through TOTEM at Burning Man, when Cee said, "this is my client, fennel." We said "Hi." and held up our respective right hands.

Later, on that road trip, I remember being impressed by your new iBook and incredible enthusiasm for NaNoWriMo (about which I waited a polite week or three to email you). I also remember you enthusing about the Oulipo in that Chinese restaurant. I'd never heard of Oulipo, which seemed to surprise you.

I first remember meeting you at a LARP. I'm sure I had met you before, but this is the first thing I rememebr about you.

My first strong impressions of you weren't in person, they were stories or posts or some such. I'm sure I'd encountered you at parties and we'd exchanged names, but lingered in that "we've never had a conversation but yet still know a wee bit more than each other's names" space for a long time. Whenever that happens, it gets reeeeally hard for me to remember *meeting* someone (unless, you know, a tornado hit at that exact moment or some such). Stupid memory!

I know I first met you at UCBU, but I don't actually remember it. My first memory of you was seeing you on the street at some later date, and thinking, "Whoa, is that-- She's shaved off all her hair!" I was quite impressed that you could pull off that look; I hadn't thought it possible for anyone this side of Sinead O'Connor.

I tend to assume that anyone I *could* have met juggling, I did, since it took me a while to wander to UCBU. But I don't know, precisely. Anyway, I *think* you were doing a lot of juggling on the quads 'round about the time I was watching during my Orientation.

I certainly remember one of my first impressions of you was that you were a muppet :)

a really funny, wacky, sexy muppet.. and you know, sexy muppet is really hard to pull off, but you do it well :)
