Yes, yes, IBM bought my company. So now, I get a week less vacation per year, no salary increase, my stock is going to be sold when the deal goes through (and I suppose I have to pay short-term capital gains for this privilege) and I live in fear that they're going to downgrade us to sketchy support levels or something. They've only announced the upper-management cuts at this point, but how likely is it that we'll be unaffected?

I mean, sure, now I work for a gi-normous company and it cements the security of the company. But I do believe that now, nearly all of the things that caused me to come work here are gone. The one that's left is the bike path (for whenever I can @#$&*^!@% bike again) -- watch them absorb us into some nearby IBM location! rrrrhhh.

I got a fortune cookie on Saturday night that said I'd get a new line of work. Too bad there's no money in leading bike tours or becoming a park ranger.

Grumpiness aside, I'm all glowy today. I feel *great*. People sort of christened the house by hanging out in it yesterday, and despite the stacks and stacks of boxes still in evidence, it felt cozy and livable. Thanks...
