portrait project update!

OK -- a portrait a day in the middle of winter? A bit ambitious. I have scaled back: I am still going to do 60 portraits, still mostly black and white, but I'm giving myself until the end of February to do it. I'm having a blast, though, and I can't remember the last time I learned this much about how to actually Do Photography.

Relatedly but unrelatedly, because I was talking with minerva42 last week and she mentioned she had no idea: I have been shooting conferences and events professionally for a few years now, though I don't put that work up here (or on flickr). One of the perks of my job is that I have enough vacation time and flexibility to do a few of these per year, and it looks like that may continue to be the case for a while!
