lynx kitty sentry

This weekend, I sold soap and hung art. It was interesting, as many things are; saw some people I see a lot, and some people I see almost never. Got a couple of really good hugs and a couple of superb little compliments. Overheard someone bitching about me (that's a first). Learned from [livejournal.com profile] desiringsubject that one of my photos at Renee's sold off the wall! I suppose I should bring them another. Learned, again, that sometimes a bunch of tiny things can go wrong and even though it's nobody's fault it can still suck and that's okay. Gave my little girl her first chocolate milk (she was quite taken with it). Built her a nest. Talked about picnic etiquette with her, and what opinions are.

After stories, tonight, at bedtime, we turned out the light and then cuddled and meowed at each other, which made her giggle an outlandish amount; after a bit of that, she told me that she had spiders on her arm, and spiders were a good kitty breakfast and I should eat them. (Spiders? Yes, spiders.) Good. All good -- even, in retrospect, the bad.

I love watching these small people grow. Today we took Simon to the zoo for the first time -- his favourite thing? Meerkats :)

Hey, want to get together during Reading Week? We're halfway thinking of visiting Boston.

Oh oh oh!! Really? Yeah! When is that? It would be awesome if we could see you guys!

As for zoos -- we took N semi-recently for the first time, because I'd heard there would be meerkats. She misheard/misunderstood me and thought that I said "more cats", and was a little confused by the meerkats themselves, though eventually charmed (and also charmed by the snow leopard!)

Small girl fort! And the small girl in question quite liked the fort, once we padded it enough. :)

Which zoo? The Stone Zoo has otters, which are even more fun to watch than meerkats.

I remember standing in front of the meerkats when I was little. You could talk to them, so long as you considered exchanging high-pitched squeaks to be talking. The Stone Zoo's otters are pretty vocal, too.

She's so cute. I love these retrospective photos of her. :)

If you get this before you leave for work, give me a short ring?

V is trying to figure out doorknobs. She cannot quite reach.

But right now she is figuring out a banana, which is going better (though it was pretty hilarious when she bit the end off of one the other day).

Small, fast moving mammals are usually big hits with the tiny tots.

The Toronto Zoo does have otters, and they were out & wrestling in a writhing mass of weaselly goodness.

If reincarnation actually works, I want to come back as an otter. If I am a truly terrible person, I will come back as a naked mole-rat :/

Reading week is mid-February. We're not past the "Hey, want to go to Boston?" stage of planning yet, but will let you know if we do it :)

Well, Oscar agrees that spiders are good kitty food.

What's an opinion, anyway? I don't know how I'd answer that question.

It's when you think something and another person thinks something else, and there's no good way to tell who's right (like, "That cloud looks like a cat") or you're both right ("oatmeal is good").

(Something like that, anyway.)

And cats totally eat spiders, but I don't think she would have come up with that on her own without witnessing it. Funny.

Love the fort. People used to give me strange looks when they would see half of my entire living room covered with sheets draped over everything that stood still. The twins would tunnel and live in there for hours on end. So much fun!

Thank you! I do, with [livejournal.com profile] ectophylla. It's fun. :)

Also, you have singlehandedly made me decide that we need an etsy shop!

N still doesn't have the dexterity to operate them most of the time, but she totally GETS them. :)

Our cat Mir also GETS them, but does not have the dexterity to operate them. However, if we had doors with handles instead of knobs, I fully expect that there would be a cat opening all the doors.
