Even while angry at the United States government, I still say the pledge of allegiance & sing along with the anthem, but the big difference is that these days I'm leaving "god" out.
"I Pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
As a child I understood that saying "god" didn't feel right, but I went ahead and said it in that hollow meaningless word kind of way. Now I'm angry enough that the idea of following along with saying "under god" just isn't ok.
