today's dream
[Scene: two parents and a kid lolling in bed. The alarm goes off; D wakes up, I wake up, N snoozes mightily.]
Me: I think she's asleep.
N: *ZZZZZZZZZZ*
D: Seriously! It's funny.
Me: Yeah. *laugh*
N: [sleeepily] YEAH, because the frogs are eating the pretty umbrellas! *sleepy giggles*
*uncontrollable quiet laughter from parents*
N: Why are you laughing?
Me: Because you said a funny dream thing and I liked it.
N: IT IS REAL!
Um okay.

Natalie and I should talk
I'm hard of hearing, and my brain works very hard to make real words out of the phonemes my ears manage to pick up, but the real words don't always make sense when assembled into a sentence. Norman will say something, and what I hear is often an awful lot like, "because the frogs are eating the pretty umbrellas." I tell him what I've heard so that he knows which phonemes to emphasize when he repeats what he actually said, but the danger in this is that sometimes he likes the bizarre sentence I came up with too much to tell me what he actually said.
Gotta watch those frogs -- they're voracious! :-)
