Moxie now makes an energy drink!

I bought one, but I don't dare try it yet. My brother's review:

Yes, I discovered that this summer. I had to try one, too.
Unfortunately, its Moxieness didn't come through. I wanted a gross-
tasting energy drink, but instead I got... well, it *was* a gross-
tasting energy drink. But it wasn't gross like Moxie should be gross.
It was just energy-drink gross.

A fine line to walk.

I know! I've been eyeing it too. Sad that its moxieness doesn't come through - still, I'm sure I'll try it at least once. =)

[identity profile] dilletante.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
i was going to ask if you'd seen it. :)

[identity profile] maighread.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I glanced it's orange canny goodness briefly while running through a store somewhere. Haven't seen it locally though. Am keeping my eyes open!

(mmmm....moxie....)

[identity profile] moominmolly.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
We didn't see it locally, either, actually. We trekked up to the Common Ground Fair on Sunday and I saw it in a convenience store on the way back. Now it's in the kitchen, lurking.

Awe, Common Ground Fair... (moment of longing for home) The place where I first discovered I was not, in fact, a fan of fresh water clams. *squick*

[identity profile] moominmolly.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Someone was SELLING fresh water clams? Oh my god ew. That's just mean. Though, I suppose someone was selling crab apples yesterday, so anything is possible.

Still! I ate good food and saw llamas and came home with a jar of creamed honey, but didn't find the yurt guy. Sad.

[identity profile] maighread.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Creamed honey - mmm. We kept bees when I was growing up. No creamed honey but remembering the freshly uncapped honeycome has me drooling on my keyboard.

(Love yurts! There are a few in the group that I camp with at Pennsic. I keep eyeing them as a tent alternative.)

I wonder if at least they were Quahogs. Or are those not freshwater?

[identity profile] moominmolly.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Sadly, no (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quahog), they're not. It's possible that the freshwater clams I had weren't really eating clams -- we sort of cooked and ate them on a whim. :)

*sigh* I, of course, picked the weekend of Common Ground to be out of town. Did you see the sheepdog demonstrations? They're always a highlight (even though they're the same every year). Glad you had a good time, even w/o the yurt guy.

orange canny goodness

...of course, now you've got me wondering if a bottled version would be orange UNcanny goodness...

[identity profile] maighread.livejournal.com 2005-09-27 10:59 am (UTC)(link)
It's uncanny!

(And yes, that was terrible!)

AAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUGH!

[identity profile] moominmolly.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Bless you.

Your brother sounds exactly like you. I think I must meet him someday and find out what that's like.

[identity profile] moominmolly.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
He's really a whole awful lot like me, but with no bike. Here's (http://www.intrepidheroines.net/images/family/paul/paul_stuart.jpg) a photo of him with our nephew (now 3). My other brother (http://www.intrepidheroines.net/images/family/molly_rob.jpg) is the crazy Ironman triathlete. We're pretty clearly a set, in a lot of ways.

Can't be as bad as Diet Moxie.

[identity profile] moominmolly.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh my. I've never had the, err, pleasure. I guess I knew it existed, but suddenly, I'm totally repulsed by the thought.

[identity profile] delerium69.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
For the love of all things holy, don't drink it . Just don't.

[identity profile] ratatosk.livejournal.com 2005-09-27 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
I actually like the taste of Diet Moxie, and buy it on purpose. :)

[identity profile] moominmolly.livejournal.com 2005-09-27 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
Wow! I think you're the first Moxie drinker I've known who's not from Maine.

[identity profile] delerium69.livejournal.com 2005-09-27 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Well I do actually like the regular stuff, and I'm not from Maine either. It's just that when it comes to the diet version, artificial sweetener and licorice flavor don't go well together in my mouth.

[identity profile] oakenguy.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh my GOD!

I'm fascinated...yet I remember the horror that was Blueberry Moxie, back in '86.

[identity profile] moominmolly.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
No way. No way. No way.

I'll report back on the energy drink when I try it (probably postpartum, I don't want to give the kid ideas).

[identity profile] youngwilliam.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, I gave it a shot not too long ago. I agree with your brother -- it's not just a fairly 'feh' energy drink, but it also really doesn't have any of the panache that Moxie normally has.

[identity profile] gretchens.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Awww, man! I was at the CGF on Sunday, with Jenne T. I was the one leaving the tents to shove smuggled multigrain saltines into her gullet. Well, that or ginger candy. Urgh. But, I could've felt bad at home, or surrounded by chickens. The chickens won.

Also, Andy loves that Moxie energy drink something fierce, and I've never seen a Maine Lobster Game. Of course, I haven't done anything touristy in a while, so that might explain it.

[identity profile] moominmolly.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Good choice. Those chickens were pretty excellent.

I'm sad that we didn't run into you! That would have been perfect. Sorry to hear about the saltines/ginger candy, though. :\
