This week, David and I were supposed to be on a tandem bike, cycling from London to Edinburgh and then spending a week in Scotland. The huge cloud of volcanic ash stopped us from leaving, however, so on a last minute whim we flew to Belize. I just bought bathing suits and a big floppy hat and today we are going to explore some caves. Tomorrow maybe we will take scuba lessons near the yoga retreat mzrowan recommended. I really do love traveling with no idea what I'm doing or where I will be tomorrow -- there is no pressure to do everything since doing anything at all is a triumph.

On the one hand, I've been sad your plans got all ash-covered, but on the other, I think of all the people I know, you two are among those most equipped to take this kind of adventure and truly make the best of it, and not in some kind of booby-prize way, so in that sense, I'm glad you are.
