(1) I would like it to be known that it was [livejournal.com profile] ceelove, not me or [livejournal.com profile] dilletante, who was teaching Natalie this morning that zombies say "braaaaaains" just like ducks say "quack" or horses say "neigh" or monsters say "raaar".

(2) I am, right now, going totally crazy. I'm waiting for a call back from the hiring manager of a job I want, where I really liked the people I'd be working with, etc etc etc. Yes is fine, no is fine, I'll tell you in a week is fine, but suspense is NOT!

Hee hee hee. Cian had a similar one. From a pretty early point he knew ducks, horses, cats, dogs, cows... and dragons. I don't even know who he learned it from!

"What do dragons say?"

(in the biggest deepest voice a very small person can manage)
"DIE!"

This is unbearably cute.

that literally made me laugh out loud enough that i had to explain it to my officemate :)

[identity profile] justinjs.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Excellent.

It had the same effect on me, laughter-wise, many times.

[identity profile] dilletante.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
that's awesome. :)

TWO things to add to our list. Our other parenting role models are too conventional to think of these.

Although the first dragon books *I* read were McCaffrey so "DIE!" may not be the answer. OTOH I far prefer The Hero and the Crown to Dragonflight now that the choice is available so maybe "DIE!" it is. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

I'm not sure what source Cian got it from. I think I didn't even know if he knew the word "die" until that arose.
(This was well over a year ago, in any case.)

Tough decisions ahead, for sure!

[identity profile] harimad.livejournal.com 2007-10-20 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
It's been suggested that dragons say "You look tasty."

[identity profile] justinjs.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, and good luck with the job and all. That kind of suspense stinks.

[identity profile] aroraborealis.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
How can we distract you, Ms. Moomin?

[identity profile] ectropy.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Good luck!

(Do we get a hint as to where?)

[identity profile] moominmolly.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I think maybe not until I hear. :)

[identity profile] twoeleven.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
aw, please? not even a friendly game of hangman for the name of the city where the job is? :)

Hah! Um, okay:

Yay Zombies! <3 <3

Good luck on the job thingy. Keep us...um...posted. I'll be thinking good thoughts for you in the mean time!

[identity profile] moominmolly.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought of you. :) And thanks!

> Yes is fine, no is fine, I'll tell you in a week is fine, but suspense is NOT!

I'm on day 35 of waiting for a result. My nails are practically negative space by now.

[identity profile] moominmolly.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Gah, I bet! :L

[identity profile] harimad.livejournal.com 2007-10-19 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
Why has it gone on so long and what do they say about the delay?

[identity profile] tcb.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
1) Yay zombies!

2) Sorry we're being so slow :/ I hope that everything works out, here or elsewhere!

[identity profile] moominmolly.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
re: (2), oh, actually, *I* had to delay an extra week this time. This is a separate job that is perhaps less obviously-suited-to-me but for that reason kind of more exciting. :)

[identity profile] moominmolly.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
(but which apparently has some fatal-seeming flaws that I hadn't seen an hour ago. argh!)

[identity profile] moominmolly.livejournal.com 2007-10-19 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
I'll tell you when I've decided how catastrophic it is! :)

[identity profile] dancingwolfgrrl.livejournal.com 2007-10-18 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
After a week, you can call them and say "hi! that interview was so great. any idea when you might have a decision?"
ceo: (yeah)

[personal profile] ceo 2007-10-19 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
The important question is, what are you now going to teach Sylvana?

(And good luck! re the job.)

[identity profile] crouchback.livejournal.com 2007-10-20 12:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Good luck with the job!

I actually hate the idea that zombies say brrrrraaaaainnns, which originated in Return of the Living Dead (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089907/). I'll teach my children that zombies do not speak, but angrily grunt (because the Dead hate the living (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0225481/)) or utter wails of despair, like in the George Romero movies. (Real traditionalists can teach their kids that zombies say all sorts of things until they get salt in their mouths, at which point pretty much the only thing they say is "kill!" Cf. the film White Zombie (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0023694/) for more details.)
