Yesterday, [livejournal.com profile] signsoflife pointed me at this post of [livejournal.com profile] blk's, on introversion and extraversion in parenting. The gist: if we accept that social introverts spend energy on being social while social extraverts gain energy from it, why couldn't we describe other activities that way? Specifically, parenting?

I'm not sure where I fall on the scale -- some activities with N do recharge me (cuddling, reading books), while others deplete me, and at the end of the day I do always need time alone. But really, just having this scale to think about has helped me a lot in terms of not kicking myself for not being the extraverted parental ideal (which my mother basically was, AFAICT).

Comments from people who grew up with introvert-parents and didn't wind up monumentally socially maladjusted are especially welcome. :)
