OK, Lady Gaga is actually kind of adorable. Here she is on French TV last December: she sings Eh Eh, plays a little ragtime, and screws around with Poker Face on the piano, throwing in some random made-up French lyrics and playing while standing up on the bench for no obvious reason.

Did you happen to see the movie Factory Girl? Lady Gaga in this clip reminds me **so much** of Sienna Miller's portrayal of Edie Sedgwick, it was eerie. It made me feel both very much fond of Lady Gaga, and also feel pity and sympathy for her. There's this awkward way she responded when the show-host made the joke about her taking off an item of clothing for every song requested... she pauses a moment (and because I'm reading her as this other character portrayal) I see her as, for just a brief moment, confused, wounded and frightened at his sexualizing her, then the beat is gone and she owns the moment again... as if she remembers she's a super-star. It's as if she's somehow a total innocent standing there in little more than latex underwear. That's some serious mojo she's working.

That was charming. One can see how talented she is instead of being distracted by the too-fast cuts, innuendo, and ridiculous clothing in her videos. She'd make a great club singer or chanteuse or starring in a Edith Piaf biopic.
