Lend me your kids!

I would like practice taking photos of babies and kids. I've already taken all possible photos of the ones in my house, so I need to start practicing on some new ones. Do you have a kid? Would you be willing to bring 'em to me for a weekend hour or so, so I could take pictures? I'm going to be really awful to schedule with, I can tell you in advance, but I can make up for it in enthusiasm or something.

(A lot of this is going to be me getting used to dealing with other people's kids. I'm no monster, but I'm not precisely smooth and social, either.)

Oh, yay! I was kind of hoping you'd say that. :)

I already loaned you my kid! But happy to do it again sometime.

For all readers of this post: you totally wanna do this! You will get pretty pictures of your kid making straaaange cute expressions.

how's december?

[identity profile] sconstant.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I totally would, but for distance. Btw, I assume that in child photography, dealing with other people's -kids- is not the biggest issue. But maybe I'm a misanthrope.

[identity profile] dbang.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Any interest in doing whole families? My kids are singularly (pun intended) well photographed but there are not that many of them together and fewer still with all 5 of us.

And nearly none of me anywhere :-\

[identity profile] contessagrrl.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure! I mean, I think perhaps you've taken pictures of ours before?

But I would certainly bring her over for an hour so you can take pictures again!

The Mass Adoption Resource Exchange is looking for volunteers to photograph kids up for adoption for their Heart Gallery (http://www.mareinc.org/heartgallery/heartgallery.html).

You'll be around? It'd be excellent to meet you.

I took this one:

But I think that's about it! I'd love to borrow her again, somehow. :)

[identity profile] sparkymonster.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Where are photos of N in her costume? What is her costume?

*hijacks thread*

Hee hee! *accedes to demand*

Well, right now, I have an easier time dealing with annoying adults than I do with unfamiliar but basically pleasant kids, and that seems wrong. And if we're ever near you, I totally want to photograph your kid. :)

[identity profile] moominmolly.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, hey! I'd love to do that.

[identity profile] moominmolly.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I should absolutely do that. Thank you!

[identity profile] moominmolly.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
You're brilliant! Okay!

[identity profile] trom.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I will for the last two weeks or so of December. I'd love to meet...

[identity profile] trom.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know about brilliant, but I'll take it :)

[identity profile] trom.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
*poof*

[identity profile] dancingwolfgrrl.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
The fact that I can totally imagine her saying "Naali bumbuh bee!" only makes it harder not to explode out of sheer cuteness :)

Yes PLEEEEEZE.

[identity profile] anotherjen.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
She'll be here next weekend.

[identity profile] ukelele.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Aigh! That's cute! But...I thought she was a spiderwebkitty? Or was that so yesterday?

[identity profile] moominmolly.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the free publicity. :) And your kid was great! I will totally borrow her again.

[identity profile] moominmolly.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
That was LAST WEEK!

(It's, um, entirely possible that her mom is cuckoo about Halloween costumes.)

Re: Yes PLEEEEEZE.

[identity profile] moominmolly.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool! Okay, I'll figure out scheduling and send you an email.

[identity profile] moominmolly.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
You should hear her buzzing. :)

[identity profile] moominmolly.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I was pretty much a goner.

sure!

[identity profile] justinjs.livejournal.com 2007-11-01 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Probably not this weekend or the following one due to travel and whatnot, but some weekend shortly after that I suspect Cian would be happy to come over for some photos.

Be warned. He doesn't object to having his photo taken at all, but he doesn't always take well to being posed or asked to smile, etc. I've had good luck getting some decent photos of him, but very rarely when he was "being photographed." He tends to be cheerful about it, just not always helpful. So perhaps he's exactly the practice you're looking for. ;-)

Funny you should mention. :) My actual theory is that I'd be good at sort of environmental portraits of kids: go visit them in their natural habitat and take tons of pictures until they're okay with it and just kind of ignore the camera and run around in trees like they normally would do (or whatever). So actually, he sounds perfect!

[identity profile] dancingwolfgrrl.livejournal.com 2007-11-01 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
I must remember to ask her what noise bees make next time I see her :)

[identity profile] sparkymonster.livejournal.com 2007-11-01 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
SHE IS BUZZING?!?!!

*keels over*

[identity profile] sparkymonster.livejournal.com 2007-11-01 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
HEE! Need pictures of those too
gingicat: deep purple lilacs, some buds, some open (Joshua32 - piano)

[personal profile] gingicat 2007-11-01 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Sure, you can borrow my kid on occasion, especially if he gets to play with Natalie. :)

running around in trees!

[identity profile] justinjs.livejournal.com 2007-11-01 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Excellent. I prefer that sort of pictures of kids, and people in general, anyway.

[identity profile] razil.livejournal.com 2007-11-01 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
Um, next time you're in Bangor! *grin*

[identity profile] amber-phoenix.livejournal.com 2007-11-01 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
mine mine, take mine! except, um, i can't easily bring him to you. i do, however, offer pretty kick ass guest accommodations :)

[identity profile] contessagrrl.livejournal.com 2007-11-01 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
(I love her.)

There are a couple of weekends, actually, when she could be pretty easily delivered to you. I could deliver myself and [livejournal.com profile] spike too and there could be poi! And lunch! Or something!

I'll email you. :)

[identity profile] entrope.livejournal.com 2007-11-01 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
You're always welcome to borrow ours!

[identity profile] catling.livejournal.com 2007-11-01 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure! That would be fun, I've been wanting to visit Moosecasa anyways.

Let me know as you sort out responders and schedule. Mine is pretty open at this point. :)

[identity profile] mom-o-cass.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
hi!
a friend sent me your way and i see you've had many responses to your request for Kid Borrowing but i'm offering mine as well - Miss Cass is 22 months old and i can't wait till she turns 2 so i don't have to measure her in months anymore. :)
