best compliment I've gotten in a long time

"You're good at liking things. When you like something, you like it hard, and you like it tons."

I hope it's true. I will make it so!

[livejournal.com profile] gosling made a similar observation about me when we were first dating. :-)

Someone once told me "you're a fan," and when I asked "of what?" explained they meant it generally - that when I had a specific interest, I chased it down - got the import CDs, owned all the issues of the magazine, etc. It was, I think, supposed to be pejorative, because it was in contrast to their reasonable and omnivorous tastes. I think they meant that I liked the act of liking and collecting and memorizing etc., more than I liked the actual thing I was liking. I took it a little to heart, and try to see if I'm liking the thing or the being-a-fan part, and making sure I'm getting the enjoyment I think I'm getting.

Anyway, not meaning to tar your compliment, just what it made me think of.

It's totally true.
