I say this having no authority to do so whatsoever: acidents happen. You are not allowed to beat yourself up (to the degree that you can help). Looking back at my own childhood, I am quite clear that it is often far, far more important how you respond to the accident than the fact that it happened, and you did beautifully. Go you.
