Aug. 3rd, 2002 07:05 pmSlept late, had brunch, and then went skating. David and I had decided to go to Lexington and back but then we made the grave mistake of stepping outside, where we were cheerfully greeted by a narsty burst of hot wet air. The day was disgusting enough that we decided to catch Lilo and Stitch at the Somerville Theater; it turned out to be charming. I still think they missed their chance to name it Lilo and Grub, but oh well. David's clever plan worked: when the movie got out, the weather was tolerable, so we were able to take the trip.
The skate was excellent. They've paved all of the horrid sections of the bike path through Arlington -- biking, I always take Mass Ave through Arlington, since the bike path is slow and awkward and had historically always been rooty. As a result, I'm not sure when they redid it all this spring/summer, but it was a pleasant smooth surprise. Beautiful. The skate back was also nice, but I ran out of steam about 1/2 mile from home. This meant that I was pooped and shaky just before having to go up and over Winter Hill. Blah! The good thing is that I made it home, and I think that hitting the edge of my comfort level just before getting home is a good thing to do if I want more skating endurance. I was, however, really zonky for the first half of tonight's game. Ah well; it all turned out OK, and the GM squeaked and cried with laughter at one point, so it's a win overall.
Tonight: road trip!
