Biked in again this morning. All in all, the biking is going pretty damn well. I seem to be getting faster and healthier rather than gimpier and grumpier. I'm a little alarmed, however, that I don't seem to be able to eat meat anymore. This has happened before when I've biked a lot, near my limits, but I didn't expect it to recur so soon. So much for re-trying that lamb satay at the Green Street Grill.

Dinner out last night was sumptuous. I went out with [livejournal.com profile] dilletante and [livejournal.com profile] zogathon, both of whom got big fat steaks while I got a perfectly-steamed artichoke in a tangy, buttery mushroom-parmesan risotto. Steamed artichoke seems like it would be a very good date food -- it's so thorough. I'm getting dreamy just thinking about it.

I came very close to riding my bike this morning. The route is roughly 12 miles, too. Looked a little too cold for me, though.
Maybe I will on thursday.

W00t! I encourage it!

Ifind that the worst part of cold weather is deciding to get started, followed very closely by the first five minutes of the ride. Once I get past that, my body feels all warm and juicy and happy.

I got five miles after work. That was at least something.
It looks like it's going to get nasty here again for the next few days, though.

Where does one find a restaurant that serves artichokes? I like artichokes, but don't do them right for myself very often.

arty choking

This was at Orleans in Davis Square. Also, they seemed to have big comfy sofa areas. I must go back for drinks.

Oh I do so love artichokes... They're a very tactile food, and they keep you to their own pace. It's almost impossible to hurry through an artichoke, not that you'd want to.

Here we go: Orleans (http://ae.boston.com/dining/restaurant/1014). The service was slow (like some of those reviews say) but it was cozy and my artichoke was, as previously mentioned, heavenly.

of course, the sexiest thing to do is to steam artichokes at home, prepare a garlic lemon butter, and feed each other artichoke leaves.

mmmm. I just have to note: for Valentine's day, he steamed artichokes, left his hair down, and wore my favorite outfit. :)
