Hee hee hee! I mean, sure, it sounds useful, but that name...

Edit: both dictionary.com and m-w.com say that a haruspex is a priest from ancient Rome, despite the fact that Romans got it from (at least) Etruscans/Babylonians/Assyrians. This makes me weirdly grumpy.

My parents, spendthrifts to the core, bought me a Shorter Oxford for Giftmas. Sadly, I left it in my sister's car in Vermont. I'm curious to see what it might say about the etymology. (They also have a Compact Oxford in NJ. Now I wonder if they shortened the etymological content when they abridged to the Shorter?)

But the occultopedia.com link mentions the Etruscans and the the possible Hindi root word.

Yeah, I had to google on "extispicy" to find someone who'd get it right. :)

I am disturbed. If I download it, will it cut open my computer and stare at its entrails? And what does the PC-enza liver look like, anyway? Eek.

Actually, I'm willing to sacrifice an old box just to see this happen. What does my hardware say about the fyooooture?
